The Postgraduate programme in MSTS aims to form graduates or professionals seeking to improve solid transdisciplinary skills in fundamental and applied areas to the objectives of sustainable development, specifically, in the ecological, technological and sociocultural aspects of marine activities and the protection of marine living resources.
The course, specifically, aims to train students to:
a) Apply innovative methodologies and technologies to solve problems associated with the exploitation of marine living resources;
b) Plan, implement, and evaluate projects and technologies applied to the sustainable exploitation of marine living resources;
c) Promote knowledge transfer and innovation, active citizenship, and marine environmental literacy guided by Blue Growth;
d) Reflect and have a critical sense of the technical, ethical and social implications of the activity, from a systemic perspective of Science, Technology and Society;
e) Know-how to communicate marine scientific and technological knowledge clearly and effectively;
f) Know-how to analyse, plan and actively participate in multidisciplinary teams.
During the coursework, students will be exposed to numerous modules covering several topics of marine science, technology and society, and underpin the capacity to perform independent research through the project component integrated in internships at top level labs (NOVA SST, OsloMet and IPMA). In addition, the course will also strengthen skills on scientific communication and analytical/critical thinking.
