Alex Alcocer is professor of Robotics and Control at the department of Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet). He holds a PhD in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico, Portugal. He has held positions at Kongsberg Maritime and Aker Solutions before joining OsloMet. He is academic leader of OsloMet Oceanlab and member of OsloMet Artificial Intelligence laboratory. He is a project coordinator of the ongoing EU project OASYS. His research interests include marine robotics, ocean observing systems, autonomous underwater vehicles, underwater gliders, and unmanned surface vessels.
