Pedro Marques Pousão-Ferreira is a biologist, senior researcher at Instituto Português do Mar e Atmosfera (IPMA) and expert in aquaculture. He is the head of the Aquaculture Research Station in Olhão. He has more than 35 years of experience on the reproduction (hatchery), larval rearing, nutrition, ongrowing and production of bass, sole, meagre, grouper, sardine and 6 species of breams on in-shore (earth ponds) and on offshore (cages). He has participated in 62 national and international research projects. Is a member of the Scientific Review Panel of Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI) and Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) and member of the External Scientific Review Panel (ESRP) of AKDN (Aga Khan foundation). He has published 157 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific periodicals, 27 peer-reviewed short papers, 372 communications/posters in scientific meetings and workshops, 4 manuals, 4 book chapters and 1 technical book. He is a Professor of the Aquaculture master course at the University of Porto (ICBAS) from 2000-2020 and he was Professor of marine larviculture and aquaculture at the University of Algarve-FCT (2011-2013). Presently, he is President of the Scientific Council of IPMA. Supervised 30 bachelor’s, 21 master, 1 PhD and 4 post-doc thesis. Participated in 45 juries for the evaluation of scientific internships in biology, master’s and PhD thesis at several Universities. In his Ciência Vitae curriculum the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural production are: Aquaculture, Nutrition, larval and live food, pre-fattening and fattening. Production systems in semi-intensive and intensive in-shore and open sea (offshore). Basic and advanced training and technology transfer.
